Permanent or Temporary?

One of the most difficult questions asked when considering how to fill a position is whether you need a permanent or temporary staff member.

Typically, temporary staff can be used to replace staff that are sick or on leave, or to meet the demands of short term growth. Temporary placements can last from 1 day to over 12 months.

Permanent staff are generally used to replace staff that have left your company or to meet the demands of continuous and long term growth.

An alternative to hiring permanent staff is to hire the staff member on a temporary basis initially becoming a permanent member of staff once it is clear that the position is viable, and the staff member has proven themselves.
